CODE OF ETHICS
A strong code of ethics are non-negotiable for me, as they should be for all communicators. I stand by and strictly follow the ethical codes of the PRSA and the SPJ. I find a few points especially important:
HONESTY
Above all else, honesty is the best policy. I work to relay accurate and truthful information always, and I will not spread false or misleading content. This includes doing my due diligence to fact-check sources, dig deeper and not blindly believe what I am told, especially in the journalism world.
TRANSPARENCY AND INDEPENDENCE
If I make a mistake, I immediately let people know. I do not try to shove
off responsibility, and I will do everything in my power to try to make it right ASAP.
CONNECTION AND BELONGING
A core tenant of myself is connection, both between people and organizations. I will never be bigoted, racist, sexist, homophobic, or in any other way cruel or demeaning to a group of people, culture or way of life. We all share this Earth, and we all belong on it together.
